Animal Shelter of Florence County
Our Mission
At the Florence County Municipal Animal Services, our mission is to provide compassionate care and a safe environment for homeless and abandoned animals in our community. We are dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership and facilitating successful adoptions into loving, forever homes.
Serving Our Community
Our organization is committed to enhancing the lives of both pets and people through education, outreach, and collaboration with rescue partners. By fostering a humane and caring environment, we work hard to ensure that every animal has the best possible chance at a happy life.
How We Operate
We provide a supportive shelter facility located at 1487 Humane Lane in Effingham, South Carolina, where we offer care for stray and abandoned animals. Beyond traditional intake, we are proud to lead the Florence Area Community Cat Project, which utilizes Trap-Vaccinate-Alter-Return (TVAR) to humanely manage and reduce the community cat population across our region.
The Adopter Connection
Adopting is a joyful journey, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your lifestyle and family. By providing resources like our Pet Pantry and tools for reuniting lost pets, we strive to keep families together and ensure that our shelter residents are healthy, happy, and ready for their next chapter.
