The Humane Society of York County exists to give homeless animals a second chance by providing them with the care they need while they wait for their forever families. We are dedicated to finding loving homes for the dogs and cats abandoned in our community.
Founded in 1976, we began by caring for animals within the homes of dedicated volunteers. Since 2011, we have operated from our facility on Regent Parkway in Fort Mill, serving the greater Charlotte region, including York, Lancaster, and Mecklenburg counties.
As an independent, local non-profit, we rely entirely on your support to maintain our rescue, which can house approximately 120 cats and 45 dogs. Our team includes a small staff and a group of wonderful volunteers, alongside a robust foster program that allows us to save even more lives. We also champion community welfare through our low-cost spay and neuter clinic and pet food pantry, ensuring that pets and owners in our region are supported.
We believe in creating successful, lasting placements through a thoughtful process. By hosting potential adopters for appointments, we ensure you have the opportunity to meet and learn about the personality of your future companion. Our requirements, including vet references and household meet-and-greets for dogs, help us guarantee that every animal is matched with a home where they will thrive.
You can make a big impact by adopting, fostering, or volunteering to help us continue our vital work. We invite you to view our adoptable pets on our website or call 803-802-0902 to schedule your adoption appointment today. Together, we can provide abandoned animals the bright future they deserve.
