Hilton Head Humane Association
Our Mission
The Hilton Head Humane Association is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless dogs and cats while working to substantially lower the numbers of animals reproduced or relinquished. We are a proud no-kill organization committed to providing expert care and finding loving, permanent homes for every animal in our care.
Our Story and Community
Since our incorporation in 1976, we have grown from a small shelter into a vital community resource that helps over 2,500 animals every year. We believe in the power of community, and we are funded entirely by private donations and local support, which allows us to provide essential medical care, spay/neuter services, and outreach programs that keep families and their pets together.
How We Care for Animals
At our two locations—the Hilton Head Campus and the state-of-the-art Animal Campus in Okatie—our animals receive expert medical treatment, plenty of exercise, and loving care. We operate a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic to address pet overpopulation at its source and provide microchipping to ensure our animals stay safe. Every animal in our care is spayed or neutered before adoption, ensuring they are ready to transition into a happy life with you.
Your Partner in Adoption
Our dedicated adoption team works closely with you to understand your lifestyle and environment, ensuring that we make a perfect match for both you and your new companion. We are committed to our animals for life; should your circumstances ever change, we always welcome our alumni back with open arms. When you adopt from us, you aren't just gaining a pet—you are joining a lifelong partnership focused on animal well-being.
