Oconee Humane Society

Oconee Humane Society (OHS) works in conjunction with Oconee County Animal Control in the effort to find homes for as many pets in the county as possible. OHS also facilitates 2 Spay/Neuter programs. The first is available certificates for any resident of the county offering a set price for the procedure via many vets in the area. The other is an income-based offering low-income families the opportunity to spay/neuter their pets for a low co-payment of $10-$30 depending on income.

The Oconee Humane Society announced Tuesday that all of its dogs are now safe after a severe overcrowding crisis. Officials reported taking in more than 100 dogs this month while managing only 35 adoptions, leading to doubled-up kennels and dogs housed in offices. Thanks to an overwhelming community response, the shelter confirmed all animals are secure as of Tuesday night.
