The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County, Inc.

Our Mission

The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County is dedicated to increasing awareness about the humane treatment of animals through responsible sheltering, education, spay/neuter assistance, and access to wellness programs. We strive to be the safe harbor for our community’s animals while supporting the people who care for them.

Our History and Community Impact

Established as an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 2018, we were founded to centrally serve all of Sullivan County with a renewed focus on animal welfare. Since then, we have evolved into a no-kill facility, continuously enhancing our shelter operations and facilities to ensure the highest standards of care. Our journey is driven by a deep commitment to being responsible stewards of the trust our community places in us.

How We Care

Our approach is powered by an amazing team of staff, volunteers, and foster parents who work tirelessly to provide enrichment, socialization, and medical care for our animals. From our state-certified, in-house spay/neuter clinic to the implementation of nationally recognized programs like Dogs Playing for Life, we prioritize the mental and physical health of every pet in our care. By working closely with our community partners and rescue network, we focus on reducing stress and length of stay so that our animals thrive while waiting for their forever homes.

Connecting You with a Friend

Adopting is about creating a lifetime bond and welcoming a special new member into your family. We take pride in our thoughtful, transparent adoption process, ensuring that every pet is set up for success in their new home. Whether you meet your match through an online application or visit us in person, we are here to make your journey toward adoption a joyful and rewarding experience.

10/15 - TIMMY 6 years old and 85 lbs of big, goofy, hard-headed man looking for his person. 😂🐾 Hey ladies (and gentlemen 👀), Timmy here! I’m big, I’m strong, and I’m not exactly winning any awards for brains. But what I lack in common sense, I make up for in personality! I’ve got tons of energy, but I also make a great couch potato. Muscles I don’t know what to do with, and a stubborn streak that could rival a toddler who missed nap time. 💪🤣 A few things you should know about me: ❤️ 85 lbs of pure goofball ⚡ Energy level: Highs and lows 💪 Strong enough that I need an experienced handler who can handle a big boy like me 🤪 A little dumb, a lot lovable, and hard-headed as they come I’m looking for someone who appreciates a big personality, has experience handling strong dogs, and is ready to help me learn how to be the best boy I can be. 📍 Timmy is ready to find his match! Come meet this oversized goofball at the shelter. #adoptdontshop #animalshelter #easttennessee

After I’ve had my zoomies, I’m perfectly happy to curl up on the couch for a good nap. ❤️ My type: Someone who loves adventures, cuddles, and a good couch session.#adoptdontshop #shelterdog
