Pet Placement Center
Our Mission
Pet Placement Center is dedicated to reducing animal suffering by finding responsible, permanent homes for animals in need. We promote spay and neuter efforts to reduce pet homelessness and emphasize the importance of responsible animal care through education and example.
Our History
Founded in 1983 as the Tennessee Humane Animal League, our organization has been a steadfast champion for animals for decades. Since moving to our current facility on Dayton Boulevard in 1994, we have grown into Chattanooga's oldest no-kill animal shelter, providing a safe haven for dogs and cats in our community.
How We Care
We are a small, private adoption agency that operates entirely on donations and fundraising, receiving no government or agency funding. Once an animal comes into our care, they remain safe with us until they are adopted into a responsible, permanent home. Our dedicated staff, board of directors, and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure every animal receives the attention and quality of life they deserve.
Your Partnership in Adoption
We believe that successful adoption is a thoughtful, lifelong partnership between a pet and their new family. Because we want every match to be the right one, we invite you to spend time with the cat or dog you are interested in before moving forward with our application process. Our team is here to support you in finding a companion who will thrive in your specific home environment.
Join Our Community
There are so many ways to get involved, from volunteering your time and fostering, to simply meeting a new friend during a hike with one of our shelter dogs. We invite you to view our available dogs and cats online or visit us to meet our wonderful residents in person. Together, we can provide the loving second chances that every animal deserves.
