Humane Society of Dickson County
Our Mission
The Humane Society of Dickson County is dedicated to the mission of educating the public about the importance of spay and neuter programs while ensuring every dog and cat in our care finds a safe, loving home.
Our Story
Founded 30 years ago, our organization began as a grassroots movement in Tennessee to address a critical local need for unwanted pets. Since then, we have grown into a visible leader and advocate, serving Dickson and the surrounding counties as a dedicated haven for homeless animals.
How We Help
As a proud no-kill shelter, we operate with an active, transparent model that relies on the generosity of our community to fund 99.75% of our operations. We utilize a robust network of foster families alongside our primary facility to provide temporary care, specialized attention, and a loving environment for over 1,000 pets every year.
Connecting Pets and People
We believe that adopting a pet is a life-changing partnership that creates space for even more lives to be saved. Our team is committed to making the adoption process easy and joyful, working closely with you to find the perfect match that fits your family and lifestyle.

10/1 - This sweet boy is looking for a home. Lip is a handsome 31 flavors mixed breed, with an estimated birthday of 11/01/2020, weighing around 50lbs. Lip is the most gentle and loving soul, and just wants someone to give him the snuggles and affection he desperately craves. Lip loves the company of other dogs, but as always a meet and greet is required if you already have any in the family. He has not yet been tested with cats, but his easy-going and relaxed demeanor makes him a wonderful dog for a family with kids. Lip has a rough and tragic history, when he was a much younger pup he was ruthlessly shot in one of his rear legs, just weeks after he had been hit by a car and injured that same leg. Unfortunately, he was never able to receive proper vet care for these injuries, and it would now be much riskier to attempt to repair his leg. Although he uses his leg with little to no problems, in the colder weather, or if Lip has been particularly active, you may notice a little stiffness or a slightly odd rhythm to Lip's gait. He has been examined by one of our trusted vets, and they agreed that intervention after so long would likely do more harm than good. Aside from him being predisposed to getting arthritis in that leg, they recommended leaving it be. If you are interested in Lip and want more information, call 615-446-7387 or visit our shelter at 311 Tenneco Drive in Dickson.
