Our Mission
New Leash on Life is dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in our community through shelter, placement, spay/neuter, education, and awareness. We believe that with the support of our community, we can ensure a future where no companion animal is unwanted, unloved, or abandoned.
Our Commitment to Care
Since our founding, we have worked tirelessly to serve pets and their people in Wilson County and beyond. We address the root causes of pet overpopulation through our extensive spay/neuter services at The JOY Clinic, while providing essential shelter and medical care for the animals currently in our guardianship.
How We Help
We operate a dedicated Adoption Center where we provide every rescue animal with food, medical care, and behavioral training to prepare them for their new life. Beyond our walls, we support the community through our Paw Pantry, ensuring that families experiencing financial hardship can keep their beloved pets at home, and through the Angel Fund, which provides life-saving medical treatments for our animals.

9/28 - MYTH BUSTERS MONDAY: Microchipping Edition! Spooky season is coming: costumes, doorbells ringing over and over, and lots of doors opening and closing. Let's talk about it. ❌ Myth: "My pet is indoor-only, so they don't need a microchip." ✅ Truth: Indoor pets get lost too. Visitors coming in and out, deliveries at the door, kids running in and out to play. Everyday moments like these are often how indoor pets end up slipping outside unnoticed. ❌ Myth: "A collar and tag is enough. I don't need a chip too." ✅ Truth: Collars slip off, tags fall off, and if your pet loses their collar, they lose their only ID. A microchip is permanent. ❌ Myth: "Microchipping is expensive and complicated." ✅ Truth: It's actually a quick, simple procedure, similar to a routine shot, and nowhere near as costly as you'd think. It's one of the best "just in case" investments you can make for your pet. Moral of the story: a microchip is a tiny chip with a huge job.... getting your best friend back home if the unexpected happens. 🧡

9/26 - Mommy took me to the Pooch Pool Party at Nashville Shores, and I would like to formally request that every day be pool day. 🐾💦 I splashed through the not-so-lazy river, conquered the waveless pool, and learned that all this fun helped @newleashtn and some friends I haven’t met find their furever homes. That’s what I call a good day’s work. Next stop: Honey Tree Meadery for @badluckburgerclub. I can confirm they smelled like the most drool-worthy burgers in Nashville. My application for official taste tester is pending. 🍔 Then Mommy gave me a bath. That portion of the day will remain undocumented for my dignity.
