The Union County Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the welfare of animals through compassionate sheltering, adoption services, and ongoing animal care education. We strive to prevent animal cruelty and relieve suffering, ensuring every animal in our care receives the gentle, loving attention they deserve.
Established as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 1996, we have spent decades serving our community in Maynardville, Tennessee. While we receive modest support from local government, we function primarily as a private, community-supported organization fueled by the generosity of donors and dedicated volunteers.
As an open-admission shelter, we are committed to helping every animal that comes through our doors, regardless of their age, health, or temperament. Our facility at 719 Hickory Star Road serves as a sanctuary where we provide medical treatment, daily care, and a safe environment for dogs and cats awaiting their second chances. We work tirelessly to match each pet with the perfect forever home, ensuring that our animals thrive long after they leave our care.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you make the right connection. Our thorough adoption process, which includes verification of housing and veterinary references, is designed to ensure a successful, lifelong bond between you and your new best friend. We believe that when you adopt, you aren't just getting a pet—you are gaining a loyal family member who will bring years of love and companionship into your life.
Whether you are ready to adopt, volunteer your time, or support our work through donations and events, there are many ways to make a difference. We invite you to visit our shelter Monday through Saturday to meet our wonderful, adoptable animals in person. Adventure awaits, and we cannot wait to help you meet your new furry friend!
