True Rescue

Our Mission

True Rescue is dedicated to making a maximum positive impact on the lives of animals by providing safe hands, food, and shelter. We serve as a voice for the voiceless, working to right the wrongs society has committed against our animal companions.

Our Foundation

Founded in May 2020, our organization grew from a clear need to provide sensible solutions for animals in Tennessee and the surrounding Southern Region. We stand firm on the belief that animals deserve love and support from their human companions, and we are committed to being their strong arm to be lifted back up.

How We Operate

While we operate a physical shelter located in Mt. Juliet, we began as a foster-based organization and our continued success relies on our dedicated network of fosters. We utilize a community-driven model, collaborating with like-minded rescues to maintain the highest standards of care as we move animals out of difficult situations.

The Adopter Connection

Our passionate team of staff and volunteers is committed to helping every animal find their perfect match. We believe that by working hand-in-hand with our network of rescuers and adopters, we can create a safety net for animals that spans across every state. Whether you are looking to adopt or simply want to support our mission, we invite you to become part of our growing community.

9/29 - This precious kitten was found alone in a storm drain off of Briley Parkway in Nashville. She has what appears to be road rash on her face, but otherwise is okay, though very thin, and covered in fleas. She has been eating well, and made biscuits the entire time during her exam. We have named her Sadie, and she will be up for adoption soon! truerescue.org/donate

9/24 - We were contacted by our friends at Macon County Animal Control about a hoarding case, where dozens of cats and kittens were left behind. The previous owner was foreclosed upon, and abandoned the property, including the cats, over a year ago. The new owner is now asking for help, so we showed up for these cats, unprepared for the conditions in which they had been living. Normally these cases bring lots of diseases and afflictions from the felines because of the unsanitary conditions, and this case did not fall short on that. In fact, this was our first case of chewing lice, which had infested the felines there. They are quarantined and bring treated, and we are continuing to trap daily on this property. Six cats/kittens have been safely removed and we believe there to be at least a dozen more. Donations are greatly appreciated on this horrific case we are continuing to work, and we thank you so much for the support. This video includes the entire walkthrough video of the house, to really bring attention to hoarding, which is classified as a mental health condition.

9/22 - These babies were found dumped in this box at a feral colony in Nashville, TN. This is a colony that we have been helping with via our pet food pantry, and is a fixed colony. Thank goodness for Harold, the caretaker of the colony, who got the kittens to us right away. They need obvious socialization, which shouldn't take long, so we do have a socialization foster who stepped up for them. Keep a watch out for this group, as they will be up for adoption soon! Thank you for your support. truerescue.org/donate

9/21 - Mt Juliet, TN. Meet Karisma! Found running amuck in a parking lot at a Hampton Inn in Nashville, Karisma was caught by employees there. A kind person visiting our area contacted us, and we took her in. She was extremely hungry, and ate an entire can of kitten food and half a can after that. We get a lot of questions about our "go-to" kitten food, and in this case it was Weruva, which we keep in stock, and which is what we feed here at our shelter. Karisma might have made growly noises while eating (our favorite), but that changed quickly to purry noises afterwards when she enjoyed a snuggle. She will be up for adoption soon, so we will keep you posted! truerescue.org/donate

9/20 - Mt Juliet, TN. This precious princess was found on an outdoor property yesterday # in Nashville, unable to walk. We agreed to take her in right away due to the extreme nature of the injury. As is so often the case, emergencies tend to happen on the weekends, but we were able to get her into Animal Medical Center in Murfreesboro, who is our go-to for emergencies. They keep her overnight, but determined she has luxated hips due to some kind of trauma, and was in a lot of pain. We should know more later today and will give an update soon. If you can foster for medical cases like these, please fill out our foster form below. We have named this beauty, Joelle. Donations to her medical care are greatly appreciated. truerescue.org/donate truerescue.org/foster
