Animal Harbor is dedicated to saving lives, promoting animal welfare, and supporting our community. We work every day to ensure that companion animals in Franklin County are valued, protected, and given the chance to thrive.
Since opening our doors in 2003, we have grown from a modest effort into a cornerstone of humane animal care for Franklin County. In 2014, we transitioned into our current, purpose-built facility in Winchester, which has allowed us to improve our standards of care and expand our lifesaving impact for thousands of pets over the last two decades.
As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we operate as a limited-admission, no-kill shelter facility. We depend entirely on private donations and community support to provide health care, temporary shelter, and long-term solutions for abandoned companion animals. Our work is powered by a dedicated staff, our board of directors, and a network of volunteers and fosters who help us give every animal the second chance they deserve.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, and our process is designed to match the right animal to the right family. By taking the time to understand your lifestyle and needs, we help ensure a successful transition for both you and your new pet. Our 2-week foster trial is a key part of this process, allowing you to see how your new companion fits into your home setting before finalizing the adoption.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or provide a temporary home as a foster, you are a vital part of our story. We invite you to meet our adoptables today and discover the pet waiting to start their new life with you. Your kindness creates a brighter future for the animals who need it most.
