Austin Humane Society
Saving Lives, Together
The Austin Humane Society offers comprehensive, humane, life-saving animal services, transforming the lives of animals and those who love them. We are dedicated to saving Austin’s homeless cats and dogs while educating our community about responsible pet ownership.
A Legacy of Compassion
Serving our community since 1952, the Austin Humane Society is the longest-standing no-kill, non-profit pet adoption center in Austin. Over the past year, we have unleashed hope for over 13,000 animals through our life-saving programs.
Our Commitment to Care
We transform lives through programs that find animals homes, serve those in crisis, and prevent future homelessness through spay and neuter services. Our work is powered by a robust volunteer program and generous community partners who help us provide the very best for our animals every single day.
Meet Your Match
Adopting from us is a simple and joyful process supported by our dedicated Adoption Counselors who are eager to help you find your perfect companion. When you adopt, you receive over $500 in services, including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and basic life skills training, ensuring your new best friend is ready to thrive.
Start Your Journey Today
You can make a difference by choosing to adopt or by getting involved through our many volunteer and educational opportunities. Visit us at our shelter on West Anderson Lane to meet our available cats and dogs, or browse our adoptable friends online to find your new family member.
