Welcome to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas (HSSET), a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of pets and people through advocacy, education, and the pursuit of forever homes for our beloved companion animals. Established in 1962 originally as the Humane Educational Council of Southeast Texas, we have consistently focused on educating the public about animal care and compassion.
At HSSET, our mission is clear: we strive to raise the standard of care for companion animals in our community. We achieve this by providing low-cost spay and neuter services, promoting humane education for both children and adults, and advocating for improved animal protection measures. Our commitment is wholeheartedly supported by donor contributions and the tireless work of community volunteers.
Our facilities include the Mildred Yount Manion Foundation Education Center, designed to educate learners about the importance of proper animal care and welfare. We invite classrooms and organizations to schedule tours to learn more about our mission and how they can contribute to the well-being of animals in our community.
With a passionate team and a mission of love, we've successfully facilitated over 370 adoptions this year, saving dogs and cats and connecting them with loving families. Our community feedback speaks volumes about the compassion and dedication of our staff and volunteers. We aim to ensure every pet receives the care they deserve, even facing challenges such as illness upon arrival at our shelter.
Join us in making a difference! Whether through adopting a pet, volunteering your time, or donating to support our initiatives, you can be a part of our mission. Together, we can continue to provide safe and loving homes for countless animals in need.
