The Animal Rescue League of El Paso is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of stray, abandoned, and orphaned companion animals. We proudly operate as a no-kill shelter, providing essential medical care and finding lifelong homes for every animal in our mission.
Founded in 1995 by Loretta Hyde, our organization was born from a vision to provide a safe haven for animals in need. Since then, we have grown to rescue an estimated 1,200 animals each year, supported by a dedicated volunteer board and a passionate community that believes every life deserves a second chance.
Operating from our shelter in Canutillo, we provide a warm environment for our animals until they find their perfect match. Beyond standard shelter care, our unique programs—such as our PAWS partnership with the local detention system and our Play for Paws exercise initiative—ensure that our dogs receive training, socialization, and confidence-building enrichment during their stay.
Adoption is a wonderful partnership, and we prioritize finding the best fit for both you and your new pet. By considering an animal's unique personality and energy level, we help ensure a successful transition into your home. We invite you to fill out an adoption application to begin this exciting journey of adding a new member to your family.
There are many ways to make a difference, whether by visiting our adoptable pets, becoming a foster volunteer, or supporting our mission through donations. We are open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and encourage you to reach out to us today. Together, we can continue to provide love and support to the animals who need us most.
