Dallas Pets Alive
Our Mission
Dallas Pets Alive! is dedicated to promoting and providing the essential resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals in North Texas. We work tirelessly to ensure every pet finds a path to a safe, loving future.
Why We Rescue
We believe every healthy and treatable pet deserves a chance at life. By focusing on proactive support and collaborative programs, we aim to prevent unnecessary surrenders and keep pets where they belong—in loving homes.
How We Help
As a foster-based organization, our strength lies in our community. We do not operate a traditional brick-and-mortar shelter; instead, our rescue mission relies on dedicated foster families who open their homes to provide the love, socialization, and security our animals need to thrive. Alongside our foster network, we operate the innovative DPA! Adoption Container and partner with programs like Dogs Matter and the Humane Society of Dallas County to serve the unique needs of our community’s animals.
Finding Your Perfect Match
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to making it a success for both you and your new companion. Our adoption process is designed to thoughtfully match each animal with the right household, ensuring a lifetime of happiness for your new best friend.

10/7 - At the Humane Society of Dallas County (our family organization), we prioritize social enrichment. This gives dogs the best chance of finding their forever home and living a happy social life. One way we do this is through the Lobby Dog Program. Each day we alternate the dog that gets to be the greeter at the lobby. This helps pups develop their social skills with new people and helps us learn more about them. 10/5 - Pear is as sweet as they come and is currently taking applications for the perfect playmate! He may be getting a sprinkle of salt-and-pepper, but don’t let that fool you; he has so much energy to give. This handsome boy will happily join you on long walks, impress you with some goofy rolls on the grass, and nap by your side as you relax. Pear enjoys the simple things in life: a peaceful space with his favorite people and a piece of chicken for himself. If you’d like to meet Pear, apply here to set up a meet and greet: https://dallaspetsalive.org/pet/pear/ Or you can find his profile on our adoptable dogs list on our website; link in Bio Pear | 10 years old | Male | 83 lbs | Neutered Have a question about Pear? 9/22 - Our fosters make our events better! Every time our fosters come to our events, they help us spread the word and increase the chances of our pets getting adopted. DPA events are a great place to share how amazing our foster pets are! Some events are small, and some are as big as a convention, so there’s always a chance to experience something new. If you’re a foster, come and join us at our next event! #dallaspetsalive #events #doglover #catlover #rescue
