El Paso Animal Services - Westside Adoption Center

A Legacy of Lifesaving

El Paso Animal Services is the City of El Paso’s municipal shelter, dedicated to ensuring every healthy and treatable animal finds a loving home. We strive to be a leader in animal welfare by upholding the Five Freedoms for all pets, ensuring they live lives free from hunger, discomfort, pain, fear, and distress.

Our Community Mission

Since reforming our operations in 2016, we have worked alongside our community to reduce unnecessary euthanasia and move closer to a no-kill community. We are the only shelter in the borderland that accepts animals regardless of their medical condition or available space, serving as a vital safety net for pets in need throughout our region.

Care in Every Step

Our work is powered by a dedicated network of staff, volunteers, and foster families who provide love and enrichment to thousands of animals each year. From our main facility at 5001 Fred Wilson Ave. to our foster programs and community clinics, we provide veterinary care, training, and support to ensure our animals are ready for their new beginnings.

Finding Your Best Friend

We believe in Adopters Welcome, a personalized approach where we have a conversation with you to find a pet that fits your unique lifestyle and family. Because our pets arrive as strays, we focus on helping you understand their needs and providing the resources for a successful transition. Adopting a shelter pet is a joyful partnership that creates space for another animal to receive the care they deserve.

Take the Next Step

Your new best friend is waiting for you! We invite you to visit us at our main center or our offsite locations to meet our adoptable pets in person. Explore our available animals, learn about our foster and volunteer programs, and discover how you can help us continue our mission of lifesaving today.

10/2 - Fort Bliss soldiers help shelter dogs

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Fort Bliss soldiers and community members have another opportunity to give back while spending time with shelter dogs through the monthly Rescue Runners program. The Fort Bliss Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program, known as BOSS, partners with El Paso Animal Services on the first Sunday of each month to

10/12 - Sometimes, changing a shelter dog’s life starts with something as simple as getting them out of the kennel for a little while. 🐾💙 This is why our partnership with @epanimalsvc matters. A walk can ease stress. A Doggy Day Out can show a completely different side of a dog. A few hours outside the shelter can create photos, stories, and connections that may help lead to a foster or forever home. That’s why we keep showing up. We’re so grateful to work alongside El Paso Animal Services, because no single group can do this alone. It takes volunteers, shelter staff, fosters, adopters, donors, and people willing to care. Support @rescuerunners915 this @epgivingday Early Giving is happening now, and El Paso Giving Day is October 15. (LINK IN BIO OR STORIES) If you believe shelter dogs deserve more chances, more good days, and more people in their corner, please consider supporting Rescue Runners. Donate through the link in our bio or Stories, and help us keep showing up for the pups who are still waiting. ❤️🐶

10/10 - Meet Mr. Graves. We’re not entirely sure what he mix he is, but we’re pretty sure they don’t make them like this anymore. 😂💙 Grace said it best: he looks like a toddler drew a dog and only had blue and orange markers to work with. And honestly? Nailed it. He’s got the overbite. The chubby little body. The absolutely bonkers blue eyes. The tiny zoomies that last about 14 seconds before he needs a break. 😂 And somehow, underneath all that glorious weirdness, is the sweetest, most affectionate guy. He walks great on leash, loves his people, and is basically the perfect mix of goofy and chill. Mr. Graves is a masterpiece. A very weird, very lovable masterpiece. 🧡💙 Now he just needs someone who sees exactly what we see in him. 🐾 Come meet Mr. Graves at the @epanimalsvc Westside Adoption Center! 5625 Confetti, open every day from 12-6pm

10/5 - Can’t adopt but still want to make a difference for shelter dogs in El Paso, TX? 🐾💙 That’s exactly what Rescue Runners is here for. We’re a nonprofit powered by volunteers from our own community, giving people simple, meaningful ways to show up for dogs who need us. From our Sunday walks at @epanimalsvc and Doggy Day Outs to supporting shelters and rescue organizations at special events, our goal is to give dogs more exercise, enrichment, visibility, and chances to connect with the people who may change their lives. And one thing that makes Rescue Runners different? We’re not tied to just one shelter or rescue. We try to show up wherever the dogs need us most. You don’t have to foster. You don’t have to adopt. You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to show up. ❤️ Ready to get involved? Visit our page, check out our upcoming events, and come volunteer with us. 👉🏼www.RescueRunners.org Follow Rescue Runners and join the community that keeps showing up for the pups. 🐶🐾 #volunteer #elpaso #dog #dogs #nonprofit

10/5 - Remy was adopted last year and recently returned to the shelter through no fault of his own. He’s been through a lot of change, and being back in the shelter has been especially hard on him. 💔 His stress has been increasing, and he can struggle to settle in his kennel. But once he gets out, you get to see the real Remy. He’s a bubbly, affectionate, energetic boy who loves people, cuddles, playtime, and spending time with his dog friends. He’s been paired with another dog without any issues and does wonderfully with his canine companions. 🥹🐾 Remy has a big personality and plenty of energy to share. He loves to run, play, jump around, and soak up attention. But underneath all that excitement is a dog who really wants to feel safe and connected to his people. 💜 Remy has already lost his home once, and the shelter is becoming harder for him to handle. He needs someone to see past the kennel stress and give him the chance to show them who he really is. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate companion who will happily be your shadow, come meet Remy. He’s ready for a fresh start, and this time, he’s hoping it’s forever. 🐾 Remy - A56710136 🎊 5625 Confetti Dr. ⏳️ Open every day 12-6pm #Remy #Adopt #Dogs #Elpaso #Elchuco

10/4 - Punkin is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how he ended up in the shelter in the first place. 💔 This sweet old man was found wandering all alone, scared and a little underweight. And despite everything he's been through, Punkin doesn't have a mean bone in his body. 🥺 Punkin enjoys the finer things in life; treats, cuddles, and naptime, and has been nothing but sweet with staff and volunteers. But, at around 8 years old, Punkin has a little difficulty with his rear legs. That's why we're hoping someone sees him soon. Punkin doesn't need a busy life or big adventures. He needs a quiet place to rest, a soft bed, and someone who will give him the comfort and love he deserves in his golden years. He's not on our At-Risk list, but because of his age and mobility needs, we don't want him waiting until shelter life becomes harder on him. If you can be Punkin's hero, please come meet him today. He'd love nothing more than to trade his kennel for a cozy place to call home. 🐶 Punkin - A61800832 📍 5001 Fred Wilson ⏰ Open daily, 11am to 6pm #SeniorDog #SeniorSunday #Adoptable #ElPaso#ElPasoAnimalServices

10/3 - Nubbins has been through a lot. He has undergone a leg amputation, is FIV-positive, and hasn't even had a cozy bed or home of his own to fully relax in.💔 But none of that has changed who Nubbins is. Despite everything he's faced, Nubbins is an incredibly friendly cat who loves attention and will happily purr when you hold him. 🥹 Being FIV positive does not mean Nubbins can't have a long, happy life. With proper care and veterinary attention, FIV-positive cats can enjoy good quality of life for many years. After everything this sweet boy has been through, Nubbins deserves a home where he can finally relax, feel safe, and be loved for exactly who he is. If you're interested in meeting Nubbins, come to 5001 Fred Wilson nay day between 11am-6pm! He can't wait to meet you.🧡 😸Nubbins - A61488094 #nubbins #caturday #cats #gatos #elpaso
