Humane Society of El Paso

Our Mission

The Humane Society of El Paso is dedicated to preventing animal suffering, neglect, and cruelty by promoting responsible guardianship and kindness toward all living things.

Who We Are

We are a private, non-profit animal shelter serving our community 365 days a year. Because we receive no city, state, or federal funding, our work is made possible entirely through the generosity of donors, grants, adoption fees, and our dedicated community partners.

How We Care

Our facility is a hub of life-saving care where our staff works diligently to prepare animals for their new families. Every pet in our care receives essential services, including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and microchipping, ensuring they are ready to transition into a loving home.

Finding Your Perfect Match

Adopting a pet is a life-changing experience that brings immense joy and companionship to your home. We focus on responsible, thoughtful placements to ensure that each pet finds a family where they will be loved and cared for throughout their lifetime.

Start Your Journey

Are you ready to find your new best friend? We invite you to view our currently available dogs and cats online or visit our shelter on Fred Wilson Ave to meet them in person. Your decision to adopt saves a life and begins a wonderful new chapter for you and your future companion.

10/3 - It’s an awesome day to play with shelter puppies! Spend your Saturday the way it was meant to be spent: hanging out with Slinky and his pals at a free adoption event that supports homeless animals in your community! Meet the Humane Society of El Paso off-site at Group 1 Subaru (1444 Airway Blvd) from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. to cuddle up with adoptable pets and learn more about shelter programs! If you fall in love with an adoptable pet, you can take them home the same day, and Subaru will sponsor their adoption fee at the event! This means spay/neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines are already done before you head home, and the cost is covered by your friends at Group 1 Subaru ❤️ That way, you have more to spoil your new furbaby with at home!

9/30 - That’s right! Mama Jama’s adoption fee is sponsored! That means she goes home for only the cost of a city license: just $12.50! SCNAVTA at PIMA has generously covered her adoption fee, which includes her spay, microchip, and vaccines! This makes it so that her adopters have more to spoil her with at home - because she definitely deserved her fair share of spoiling. Mama Jama is a three-year-old Labrador mix who originally came to HSEP as a mama of six! After raising her pups in the shelter’s foster office and seeing them all find their furever families, Mama has been waiting for a chance to celebrate her Gotcha Day since. From the start, Mama Jama has been an absolute pleasure; foster staff said she did well with kids, dogs, and even cats in the office - just absolutely gentle with everyone and happy to make friends. She is house-trained and polite indoors, while keeping playtime outdoors, when she goes all out! Mama is now the longest resident of the Humane Society of El Paso after spending 197 days in the kennel, and she wishes more than anything to find her people before she reaches 200 days at the shelter. So, if you’re in need of a kind and family-oriented companion, stop by and adopt Mama Jama today! If your home is full, but you want to help Mama Jama find her furever, share her story with friends and family, so that she can get as many eyes on her as possible!
