The Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) is dedicated to saving, sheltering, protecting, and advocating for all animals in need. Our vision is to build a community where pets and people save each other.
As the oldest animal welfare organization in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, we have been serving animals and the people who love them since 1905. Over the last century, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of North Texas, constantly growing our lifesaving efforts to better support our community.
HSNT is much more than an animal shelter; we are a dedicated resource for the entire region. We operate two main pet adoption centers in Tarrant County, along with a network of offsite cat adoption centers and an equine ranch in Johnson County.
Through a blend of shelter care, robust foster programs, and community services, we ensure that every animal receives the attention and support they deserve. In 2025 alone, we successfully placed over 5,500 pets into loving homes while maintaining a remarkable 96% live release rate.
Adopting a pet is a life-saving decision that changes two lives forever: yours and theirs. We are here to support you through every step of your journey, ensuring that you find the perfect companion to match your family, routines, and lifestyle.
Every animal in our care is spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and given a free veterinary exam to ensure they are ready for their new life. When you adopt from HSNT, you are gaining a loyal partner and becoming a vital part of our mission.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our available dogs, cats, and equines online or visit one of our adoption centers today. Together, we can continue to create second chances and ensure every pet in North Texas finds the loving home they deserve.
