At Hill Country Animal Rescue, we are dedicated to empowering our community to give every pet the love, safety, and care they deserve through dedicated rescue, adoption, and advocacy. Our vision is a future where every pet in the Hill Country enjoys a safe, comfortable home and our community is free from pet overpopulation.
Chartered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 1997, our journey to provide a dedicated sanctuary began with a shared dream among our volunteers. This vision became a reality in 2006 with the grand opening of our Trudy Brune shelter facility, a home built specifically to provide comfort and care for the animals we serve.
We are a private, no-kill facility that relies entirely on the generosity of private donors and grants, as we receive no state or federal funding. Once an animal enters our adoption program, we are committed to their well-being, providing care until they find their perfect forever home. We work tirelessly to assist animals surrendered by owners, as well as those at risk in nearby shelters, ensuring each one receives the medical attention and support they need.
Adopting a pet is a beautiful, life-changing experience, and we pride ourselves on helping you find the perfect match for your family. Our staff is here to guide you through a professional, transparent process, ensuring you feel fully informed and confident as you welcome your new companion. When you adopt from us, your new family member comes fully vetted, vaccinated, and microchipped, giving them the healthiest start in their new life with you.
We invite you to become a part of our mission by visiting our adoptable pets or joining us at our upcoming community events. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer, or simply spread the word, your support is vital to our lifesaving work. We look forward to meeting you and helping you make a memory that lasts a lifetime.
