DFW Humane Society is a dedicated nonprofit, no-kill shelter committed to giving neglected and unwanted pets a second chance at life through adoption. We believe every animal deserves a loving, stable home and the opportunity to live a healthy, joyful life.
Our Story and Community
Established in 1967, we have spent decades serving our community by bridging the gap between homeless pets and the families who need them. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit that operates without state or federal funding, we rely entirely on the compassion and generosity of people like you to continue our vital mission.
How We Care
Each year, we rescue over 900 pets, providing them with daily care, enrichment, and necessary medical treatment until they find their perfect match. Our Guardian Angel Fund allows us to provide life-saving support for animals with special medical needs, ensuring they receive the care required for a healthy future. Our shelter environment is designed to be a safe, clean, and welcoming space where every animal receives dedicated TLC from our staff and volunteers.

9/23 - Who needs a trip to the beach when Lucky is serving up his world-famous dolphin jumps RIGHT HERE at DFW Humane Society! This sweet boy has one (very important) goal in life: to get as many cuddles as possible. And he’s willing to put on quite the show to make that happen! Lucky is waiting for his forever home. 9/22 - 🚨PLEASE SHARE BOBO’S STORY! 🚨This sweet 6-year-old has been waiting patiently at our shelter for his second chance since November 29, 2024 (almost two whole years…💔) He’s well trained and loves to learn- our staff have been able to teach him sit, lay down, and are even working on weaving through legs! He does great on a leash and would do best in a home as a solo pet or with a meet-and-greet at the shelter since he can be selective with other dogs. He gets along best with assertive female dogs. Bobo is a favorite among staff and volunteers alike- we know there is a family out there where he belongs and would be loved. He has so much potential and just needs someone willing to give him a fresh start. If you think that could be you, come by and meet him.
