Bexar County Animal Care
Our Mission
Bexar County Animal Care is dedicated to building a better community through quality services, ensuring the health and safety of both our constituents and the animals in our care. We are committed to professional, compassionate, and results-oriented leadership for the pets and people of unincorporated Bexar County.
Who We Are
Established in late 2013, our department was created to support residents of unincorporated Bexar County by addressing the needs of stray, abandoned, and abused animals. As a vital public health resource, we strive to manage our facility with accountability and transparency, working 365 days a year to serve our community.
How We Operate
Our facility, located in Kirby, features 60 dedicated kennels where our staff provides care for domestic dogs and select cats. We operate as a county shelter with a focus on public health and safety, ensuring every animal receives professional attention. By coordinating with our community, we manage our limited resources to help as many animals as possible find a safe path forward.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
We believe in creating lifelong partnerships through thoughtful, compatible matches. Our application process is designed to help us understand your home environment, ensuring that every adoption is a success for both you and your new furry friend. When you adopt from us, your new pet arrives spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, ready to begin a new chapter with you.
