La Porte, TX Adoption Center & Animal Shelter
Helping Our Community's Voiceless
At the La Porte Animal Adoption Center and Shelter, we are dedicated to enhancing animal welfare services while providing a safe, temporary home for animals awaiting their forever families. Our mission centers on caring for the pets of La Porte and connecting them with loving, permanent homes.
Our Commitment to Care
Established as a division of the La Porte Police Department, our shelter relies on the vital support of the Friends of La Porte Animal Shelter, a nonprofit organization dedicated to our staff, the community, and our animals. We strive to create a warm environment where pets are treated with dignity, receive necessary medical care, and benefit from the time and attention of our incredible volunteer team.
How We Help Every Pet
Our shelter utilizes a variety of programs to ensure every animal thrives while in our care. Through our foster network—including short-term fostering, foster-to-adopt opportunities, and our fun 'Doggie Day Out' program—we offer personalized care that prepares animals for life in a new home. These initiatives allow us to better understand each pet's personality and needs, setting the stage for a successful adoption.
Find Your New Best Friend
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your family. Our adoption process includes a vet check, initial vaccines, microchip, and vouchers for sterilization and rabies vaccinations, ensuring your new companion starts their new life on the right paw. We invite you to browse our available animals online or visit our facility during business hours to meet your future best friend.
