Our Mission
Best Friends for Life, Inc. is dedicated to improving the lives of domestic cats, reducing overpopulation through spay and neuter services, and educating our community about the welfare of our feline friends. We strive to create a world where every cat finds a loving, lifelong home and experiences the joy of a deep bond with human companions.
Our Story
Founded in 2011 by Luisa Ortiz and Sandra Solis, our organization began with a simple desire to address the growing number of stray cats in Laredo. After Krisa Leon joined the team, we officially established ourselves as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2015 to provide veterinary care and hope for animals in need. Since then, we have successfully rescued and placed over 7,702 cats into forever homes.
How We Help
We operate as a limited-admission Cat Village, a specialized adoption center that provides high-quality care, including vaccinations, microchipping, and medical treatment. Beyond our center, we pioneered the first Trap, Neuter, & Return (TNR) program in Laredo to humanely stabilize feral cat populations. Our partnerships with local pet stores and organizations like the Laredo Animal Protective Society allow us to integrate our efforts into a broader mission of achieving a No-Kill status for our city.
