As a 501c3 organization, we operate independently of local government funding, relying on the generosity of our community through donations and volunteer efforts. Our mission is deeply intertwined with the values of respect, understanding, and a strong commitment to the welfare of all animals. At HSNBA, we believe in the philosophy of "Adopt Don't Shop." Every animal that leaves our care is spayed or neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and treated for common health issues, ensuring they are ready to become loving companions in their new homes. We take pride in our high success rates for reuniting lost pets with their owners, thanks to our diligent efforts in scanning for microchips and engaging our social media channels to reach a wider audience. Our shelter is more than just a home for animals; it's a place where they receive compassionate care and medical attention, especially for those who are ill or injured. We partner with local veterinary volunteers and clinics to ensure that every animal's health needs are addressed, enhancing their chances for adoption. Our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, in collaboration with the New Braunfels Community Cat Coalition, addresses the overpopulation of feral cats in a humane manner, reflecting our commitment to responsible animal population control.
