Texas CARES
Our Mission
Texas CARES is dedicated to finding wonderful, loving homes for adoptable cats while educating the public about responsible pet ownership. We believe in creating bright futures for our feline friends and providing them with the support they need to thrive.
Our History
Founded on June 22, 1993, by Marjorie Murphy, Texas CARES is one of the oldest cat-only rescues in Texas. For over 33 years, we have served as a compassionate resource, working closely with local shelters to provide a safety net for cats when they become overcrowded or overwhelmed.
How We Care
We operate as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization supported by an incredible team of over 350 volunteers. Our cats and kittens reside in a dedicated PetSmart Adoption Center in Prosper, Texas, and in loving foster homes until they find their permanent families. Every cat in our care receives comprehensive veterinary attention, including vaccinations, microchipping, and spay or neuter services.
The Adopter Connection
Adoption is a joyful journey, and we are committed to helping you find the perfect feline companion to match your lifestyle. Our team works hard to understand each cat's personality to ensure a lasting, happy partnership. We provide extensive resources on health, behavior, and care, empowering you to provide the best environment for your new family member.
