Helotes Humane Society
Our Mission
The Helotes Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the benevolent treatment of animals and providing humane education to our community. We are committed to placing neglected, abandoned, and unwanted dogs and cats into loving, forever homes.
Our Story and Community
Founded in 2008, our organization was inspired by a first-hand look at the critical need for animal support in our local area. Since then, we have grown into a dedicated non-profit serving Helotes and the surrounding San Antonio community, striving to be a true catalyst for animal welfare.
Our Foster-Based Approach
We are proud to operate as a foster-based rescue, meaning the majority of our adoptable pets reside in loving foster homes rather than a traditional shelter facility. This allows us to provide individualized care, medical treatment, and socialization in a real-world environment before our animals head to their forever families. Every animal in our care receives age-appropriate vaccinations, testing, a microchip, and spay/neuter surgery.
Your Role in Their Journey
Adoption is a life-changing partnership, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your family. By choosing to adopt, you are giving a deserving animal a well-earned second chance at a happy life. We carefully support this transition, ensuring every pet is ready to become a cherished member of your household.
Get Involved
Whether you are ready to adopt, donate, or volunteer, there are many ways to make a difference in the lives of our furry friends. We invite you to explore our available pets online, visit our thrift shop, or complete a volunteer application to help us continue our mission. Together, we can ensure every animal finds the warmth and security they deserve.
