City of San Marcos
Our Mission
San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter is dedicated to caring for, protecting, and finding quality homes for abandoned and neglected animals. We strive to reduce pet overpopulation while providing vital community education for the mutual benefit of animals and people.
Our Role in the Community
As the stray animal open-intake facility for all of Hays County, we serve as a vital resource for our region. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of animal welfare by supporting pet owners, coordinating with rescue partners, and ensuring every animal receives the compassionate care they deserve while awaiting a family.
How We Care
Our shelter is a vibrant hub where volunteers, fosters, and staff work together to help pets thrive. Through our dedicated foster network and enrichment programs like Dog's Day Out, we provide animals with essential socialization, medical treatment, and the comfort of a home environment. These efforts help prepare our residents for successful, happy transitions into their forever homes.
Your Adoption Journey
Adopting a pet is a partnership, and we are here to help you find the perfect companion to join your life. By getting to know our pets through our enrichment and socialization activities, we gain a clear understanding of their personalities, ensuring a thoughtful match for every adopter. We believe that every pet has a story, and we are honored to help you start a new chapter together.
