Welcome to the Erath County Humane Society (ECHS), located at 891 East Road in Stephenville, Texas. Since our establishment on September 16, 1976, we have dedicated ourselves to caring for unwanted and lost animals, reuniting lost pets with their families, and finding loving homes for adoptable companions. Our mission is built upon the principles of kindness, justice, and mercy for every living creature. At ECHS, we operate as an independent non-profit organization and pride ourselves on being a low-kill facility. We only euthanize sick or excessively aggressive animals when absolutely necessary, ensuring that healthy and non-aggressive animals can stay with us without time limits. We believe every animal deserves a second chance, and we are committed to providing a safe haven while they await their new homes. We work tirelessly within our community to address pet overpopulation and enforce responsible pet ownership through regulations that include spaying or neutering and required vaccinations. Our collaboration with city and county law enforcement helps protect animals from cruelty and neglect, as we believe that every creature deserves compassion and proper care. Our operation relies heavily on the generosity of our community, as we receive minimal funding from the City of Stephenville and Erath County. We invite you to join us in our mission through donations, volunteering, or fostering pets, as together we can make a significant impact on the lives of animals in need. If you are looking to adopt a pet, our doors are open during designated hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2 PM to 6 PM, and Saturday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
