Pets Fur People
A Haven for Every Pet
The Humane Society's Pets Fur People is dedicated to providing a temporary sanctuary for cats and dogs, ensuring they are nurtured and prepared until they find their perfect forever families. We are driven by the belief that every animal deserves a loving, responsible home where they can truly thrive.
Our History and Mission
Founded in 1968, we are proud to be the oldest no-kill, brick-and-mortar animal shelter in East Texas. Our mission emerged from a community commitment to move beyond outdated impoundment practices, and today we continue that legacy by teaching responsible pet guardianship and promoting spay and neuter programs to reduce overpopulation.
How We Care for Our Animals
As a selective admission, life-sustaining shelter, we prioritize the health and happiness of every cat and dog in our care. Our facility in Tyler, Texas, serves as a safe and welcoming space where our dedicated team and volunteers provide daily enrichment, specialized health testing, and individualized attention to every animal.
Finding Your Perfect Match
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why we utilize a best-qualified adoption policy rather than a first-come, first-served approach. Our goal is to carefully match the unique needs of each pet with the right home, ensuring a lifetime of companionship for you and your new best friend.
