The Dorothy H. O’Connor Pet Adoption Center is dedicated to providing homeless animals a caring environment with the ultimate goal of placing every dog and cat into a loving, permanent home. We strive to continue the humane work established by our founder, Dorothy Hanna O’Connor, by serving the citizens of Victoria County.
Our History and Mission
Founded originally as the Six Flags Humane Society in 1963, we have grown to become the longest-serving animal shelter in Victoria County. Our mission remains rooted in the belief that every animal deserves to be treated with kindness, ensuring that the legacy of compassion started in 1963 continues for generations to come.
How We Help
Our facility is professionally staffed with a dedicated team that provides daily care for our residents while they await their forever families. Beyond shelter, we act as a resource for the community by offering services like microchipping, nail trims, and educational programs such as Camp K9. We are committed to transparency and excellence in the care we provide to every animal that enters our doors.
