Our Mission
The Dorothy H. O’Connor Pet Adoption Center (DOCPAC) provides homeless animals a caring environment with the dedicated purpose of facilitating the adoption of dogs and cats into loving homes. We are committed to continuing a legacy of humane care that spans generations in Victoria County.
Our History
Our organization is rooted in the compassionate work of Dorothy Hanna O’Connor, who established the community's first animal rescue shelter in 1963. Today, as the successor organization to the Six Flags Humane Society, we remain the longest-serving animal shelter in Victoria County and continue to honor her memory through our active work in saving animal lives.
How We Care for Our Animals
DOCPAC is a professionally staffed facility where personnel and experienced animal care team members tend to our residents on a daily basis. Beyond providing a safe shelter environment, we enrich the lives of our animals through community engagement and supportive services, such as our Wash & Wag events, which help raise funds to ensure every pet receives the best care possible. We also work closely with our community to reunite lost pets through microchipping and by utilizing our professional expertise to serve those in our care.
