Second Chance Animal Center is dedicated to providing compassionate shelter and adoption services to enrich the lives of companion animals in our community. We believe in the power of second chances and work tirelessly to ensure every animal finds the loving home they deserve.
Originally incorporated in 1959 as the Bennington County Humane Society, we rebranded to Second Chance Animal Center in 2000 to better reflect our expanding mission and service area. Today, we operate out of our state-of-the-art facility in Arlington, Vermont, serving residents across Bennington County, parts of Washington County, New York, and select towns in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
As a private, limited-admission non-profit, we take pride in our thoughtful approach to animal welfare. Our dedicated staff provides comprehensive care, including medical treatment, enrichment, and spay/neuter services, while advocating for the animals in our care and supporting pet owners through community programs like our food pantry and vaccination clinics.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why we focus on making the best match possible between pets and their future families. Our team works closely with adopters to understand their household needs, ensuring that every cat, dog, or small critter finds a placement that promises a lifetime of happiness and mutual support.
