Second Chance Animal Center is dedicated to providing compassionate shelter and adoption services while enriching the lives of companion animals in our community. We are committed to fostering hopeful futures for every pet in our care through advocacy, education, and professional support.
Our Story
Established in 1959 as the Bennington County Humane Society, our organization has grown alongside the needs of our neighbors. In 2000, we adopted the name Second Chance Animal Center to better reflect our expanded service area and our philosophy, eventually moving into our state-of-the-art facility in Arlington, Vermont, in 2018.
How We Operate
As a private, limited-admission, 501(c)(3) non-profit, we offer more than just a place for pets to wait for their families. Our dedicated staff provides medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter assistance, and enrichment, ensuring every animal is healthy and prepared for their next chapter.
