The Central Vermont Humane Society is dedicated to protecting and advocating for companion animals in need while building a humane community that promotes compassion. Our goal is to strengthen the human-animal bond and ensure that all companion animals are wanted, cared for, and loved.
We are an independent, non-profit organization operating without state or federal funding, relying entirely on the generosity of individual donors, grants, and local businesses. Governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and staffed by professionals, we serve as a vital resource for our local community in Central Vermont.
As a socially conscious animal welfare organization, we provide a safe haven for lost and homeless dogs, cats, and small animals while working to reunite them with families or facilitate new adoptions. Our care model combines professional shelter operations with a network of volunteers and foster homes to ensure each animal receives the compassionate, individualized attention they deserve. Beyond sheltering, we actively support pet health through training classes, education, and efforts to address animal cruelty.
We believe that adopting a pet is the beginning of a beautiful, lifelong partnership. Our team utilizes the Meet Your Match program to focus on the unique personality and needs of both the animal and the potential adopter. We prioritize a thoughtful, informative process to ensure that every pet finds a home where they can truly thrive and be loved for years to come.
Your support makes our mission possible, whether you are ready to welcome a new family member, volunteer your time, or contribute to our work. We invite you to view our currently available animals online or contact our office to schedule an appointment. We look forward to helping you meet your new best friend!
