Welcome to the Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS), where our mission is to advocate for and create a compassionate community for animals and people alike. Since our founding in 1959, we have been dedicated to providing shelter and adoption opportunities for homeless pets while promoting animal welfare through various community programs. As a private, non-profit organization serving Rutland County, Vermont, RCHS operates with a vision fueled by the generosity of community members. We receive no financial support from national or local humane organizations, relying solely on donations, memberships, and fundraising events to sustain our vital operations. We believe in making the adoption process simple and accessible. When you visit our adoption center, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm, you can easily meet and connect with your new best friend. Our team is ready to assist you every step of the way, ensuring a smooth transition into pet parenthood. Beyond adoptions, RCHS is committed to enhancing the welfare of animals through numerous community programs, including spay and neuter assistance, feral cat programs, educational sessions, and more.
