Our Mission
Franklin County Animal Rescue (FCAR) is dedicated to promoting the health, welfare, and humane treatment of animals in Northwestern Vermont. We provide temporary, compassionate shelter for homeless cats and dogs with the ultimate goal of uniting them with loving, permanent homes in our community.
Our Journey
Since 1964, our organization has grown from a grassroots volunteer effort into an incorporated 501c3 non-profit. Formerly known as the Franklin County Humane Society, we rebranded in 2015 to better reflect our core purpose of providing care for the region's homeless pets.
How We Care
As a private, non-government funded organization, our work relies entirely on the generosity of our supporters and our dedicated team. We operate a shelter facility in St. Albans where our animals receive medical care, enrichment, and love from our staff and volunteers. We also utilize foster homes for animals that need extra space or one-on-one attention as they prepare for their forever families.
