Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of homeless dogs and cats, ensuring they are safe until they find their permanent homes. Since 1973, we have successfully placed over 17,500 animals, standing as a gold standard for no-kill rescue in Virginia.
Our Story and Purpose
Founded by Judge Anne Lewis, our organization was born out of a desire to prevent the tragedy of losing adoptable animals to euthanasia. Today, our mission remains rooted in her legacy: providing a safe haven for abused or abandoned animals while we work toward a future where every pet is guaranteed a loving home.

Located on 40 wooded acres in Aldie, Virginia, our facility offers a peaceful, non-shelter environment where animals receive medical care, rehabilitation, and individual attention.
