Bedford County Animal Shelter
Our Mission
The Bedford County Animal Shelter is dedicated to providing compassionate boarding and care for abandoned and stray animals, helping them find their way into loving, permanent homes. We believe every pet deserves a fresh start and a safe environment while they wait for their new families.
A Growing Commitment
In 2026, we celebrated a significant milestone with a major facility expansion, adding 3,000 feet of kennel space and new outdoor dog runs to improve the quality of life for animals in our care. This investment reflects the ongoing support of our community, which continues to rally behind our residents through donations and volunteer efforts.
Our Approach to Care
We operate a dedicated local facility where our staff and volunteers provide essential care for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens. Our team works closely with the nonprofit Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, whose volunteers provide invaluable support in enriching the daily lives of our animals and facilitating successful adoptions.
Connecting Pets and People
Finding the perfect match between an animal and a new family is at the heart of what we do. We strive to make the adoption process transparent and rewarding, ensuring that each animal is placed in an environment where they can thrive. Whether you are looking for a new best friend or a companion to brighten your home, we are here to guide you through a joyful and life-changing experience.
Join Our Mission
We invite you to discover your next companion by viewing our available pets online or visiting us during our operational hours. You can also make a meaningful impact by donating needed food and supplies at our local waste collection sites or joining our dedicated team of volunteers to help improve the lives of our shelter animals.
