The Bedford Humane Society is dedicated to eliminating pet overpopulation and suffering in Bedford through education, spay/neuter programs, and pet adoptions. We strive to build a caring community where every companion animal is happy, healthy, and cherished.
Established as a non-profit in 1994, we have spent over 25 years improving the lives of cats, dogs, and people in our community. Our mission is rooted in the prevention of cruelty and the relief of suffering through advocacy, humane education, and accessible resources like our spay/neuter programs.
For three decades, we have operated as a volunteer-based, foster-based rescue, providing animals with the individualized care and attention they need to thrive. By living in foster homes, our animals receive the training and socialization necessary to transition seamlessly into their new roles as beloved family members. Each animal that comes to us is given a fresh start and a new lease on life.
We pride ourselves on thoughtful, intentional matching, ensuring that each pet finds a forever home that is the perfect fit. Because we are a foster-based organization, we ask that you submit an application to be considered for a meet and greet, which helps us ensure our fosters' time is used effectively. We believe that adopting a pet is a joyful, lifelong partnership, and we are here to support you in finding your next best friend.
Are you ready to make a difference? We invite you to browse our adoptable pets, learn more about our volunteer opportunities, or consider supporting our mission through donations or our upcoming adoption events. Together, we can create a future where every companion animal is wanted and well-loved.
