Welcome to the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF), where we are dedicated to helping homeless pets find their way into loving homes through compassionate rescue and adoption. Our mission is rooted in an open, friendly process that eliminates unnecessary barriers, ensuring great people connect with wonderful pets.
Since our founding in 2001 by passionate Arlington restaurant owners Pam McAlwee and Ross Underwood, LDCRF has lived by the principle of making a lifetime commitment to every animal we rescue. We promise to welcome them back into our care if circumstances change for their new families. With over 50,000 lives saved and more than 2,000 animals placed into homes each year, we strive to make the adoption experience positive, fun, and fulfilling for everyone involved.
Our journey began at the Lost Dog Ranch in Sumerduck, Virginia, which provided a safe haven for rescued pets. In 2018, we expanded further by opening the Rescue Care Center in Falls Church, marking a significant milestone in our growth and capacity to rescue and care for pets in need.
LDCRF is not just about rescue; we also foster a spirit of community and support. Through our partnerships with local businesses, like the Lost Dog Café and Stray Cat Bar & Grill, we extend our mission beyond animal rescue to enrich the lives of all community members. We cherish the incredible generosity of our supporters and volunteers, whose contributions help us continue our lifesaving work. Every donation ensures that we can provide necessary medical care, safe shelter, and loving homes for countless homeless pets.
Join us in our mission! Whether you're considering adoption, wishing to foster, volunteering, or donating, every action contributes to transforming the lives of these animals. Together, we can give them the second chance they truly deserve and make a lasting impact in our community.
