The Henrico County Police Animal Shelter is dedicated to serving our community by providing compassionate care for animals in need and facilitating meaningful connections between pets and their new forever families.

As part of the Henrico County Police Division, our Animal Protection unit works to ensure the welfare of companion animals and wildlife across the county. We are committed to fostering a safe environment for both pets and citizens through professional, expert care and community education.
How We Care
Our shelter facility provides a welcoming environment for dogs, cats, and a variety of other companion animals, including rabbits, birds, and livestock. We are staffed by trained personnel who are deeply committed to the well-being of every animal in our care. Through partnerships with community organizations like the Henrico Humane Society and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation, many of our residents receive essential medical care, ensuring they are ready to transition into a loving home.

We are open by appointment only, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at our facility located at 10421 Woodman Road in Glen Allen.
