Animal Aid Society
Our Mission: Giving Love a Second Chance
At Animal Aid Society, our life-saving mission is to provide a safe, happy environment for homeless dogs until they find their perfect forever homes. We believe every dog deserves a life filled with love, comfort, and the security of a family to call their own.
Our Story and Community
Founded in 1971 by passionate dog lovers, Animal Aid Society has proudly served the Coastal Virginia community for over 50 years. We have grown from humble beginnings into a dedicated, 100% volunteer-run organization that acts as a vital resource for dogs in need through transfers from municipal shelters and rescue partners.
Our Commitment to Care
We operate a seven-acre, 41-kennel establishment where our residents thrive in climate-controlled spaces. Every dog in our care receives top-notch veterinary support, nutritious food, daily playtime, and consistent socialization from our team. As a no-kill shelter, we provide a safe harbor for our animals no matter how long it takes for them to find their match.
The Joy of Finding Your Best Friend
We know that adoption is a partnership, which is why we focus on making thoughtful, lasting connections. We encourage you to get to know our unique dogs—each with their own personality, activity level, and needs—to ensure a wonderful fit for your lifestyle. We are here to support you in making a joyful addition to your family.
