The Cat Corner, Inc.
Our Mission
The Cat Corner, Inc. is dedicated to providing shelter and medical care for homeless cats, actively seeking permanent, loving homes for every cat in our care. We believe in promoting the innate value of all animals and educating the public about responsible companion animal guardianship.
Our Story
Founded in 1981 by Martha Nicholson, The Cat Corner began as a passion project to help homeless cats in Hampton, Virginia. For over three decades, we have remained a nonprofit, no-kill organization, operating as a diamond in the rough that continues to make a difference in countless lives.
How We Help
As a volunteer-run nonprofit, we rely entirely on the generosity of our community since we receive no local, state, or federal funding. We prioritize a no-kill approach, pulling cats and kittens from high-kill shelters to give them a second chance at a happy life. Our operations involve a dedicated shelter team, a network of foster families, and offsite adoption locations to provide the best care possible for our feline friends.
Your Role in Our Family
Adoption is a lifetime commitment, and we focus on carefully matching the unique needs and lifestyles of adopters with our cats. By ensuring each animal is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home, we help create a joyful, stress-free transition for both you and your new companion. We see every adoption as a partnership, helping to ensure that our alumni and their families thrive together for years to come.
