Our Mission
The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA is dedicated to creating a community free of pet homelessness and animal suffering through active adoption and advocacy. We are here to help pets and people in our community live happier, healthier lives together.
Serving Our Community Since 1973
As a registered 501(c)(3) private nonprofit, we have proudly served the City of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County for over fifty years. We operate independently, meaning we rely entirely on the generosity of our local community to provide essential services without funding from national animal welfare organizations.

We provide compassionate, professional care for local animals, treating every creature with kindness, love, and respect. Our model combines a dedicated shelter facility with a vast network of foster homes, ensuring that each animal receives the individualized attention they need before finding a forever family. Through our evidence-based practices and transparent, data-driven approach, we strive to give every pet a second chance at a happy life.
