Our Mission

Friends of the Northumberland County Animal Shelter (FNCAS) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our local shelter and ensuring every homeless animal finds a loving forever home.

Why We Exist

Founded to provide essential support beyond county budgets, we work tirelessly to ensure our shelter animals thrive. Through our partnership with the Northumberland County Animal Shelter, we are proud to have helped the facility maintain its no-kill status for nine consecutive years, achieving a remarkable 94% live release rate in 2024.

How We Care

We provide vital financial support for items that ensure the health and happiness of our residents, including heartworm treatments, vaccinations, specialized medications, bedding, and enrichment toys. By funding these needs, we ensure every animal in our care is prepared for their next big step: joining your family.

The Adopter Connection

We believe in building lifelong partnerships between pets and their new families. Our adoption process is designed to be thorough and thoughtful, focusing on compatibility and long-term success. We prioritize the well-being of our animals by ensuring they are sterilized and that their new homes are ready to provide them with the care they deserve.
