Rockbridge SPCA

Our Mission

The Rockbridge SPCA is dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals and promoting their humane care and treatment. We serve as a vital resource for our community, providing safety and support for animals in need throughout Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County.

Why We Are Here

Established to protect the welfare of both domestic and wild animals, we serve as the local animal pound while also educating the public on responsible ownership. With the generous support of donors like Mrs. Ruth Sorrells, we have expanded our reach, including the creation of our state-of-the-art, low-cost spay and neuter clinic to help manage the pet population.

How We Help

Our shelter provides a safe, caring home for thousands of homeless and abused animals each year. We maintain a clean, professional facility at 10 Animal Place in Lexington, which includes amenities like the Spaw, our do-it-yourself dog wash, and a quiet, wooded area for our surgical clinic.

Building Your New Family

We believe in creating lifelong, meaningful partnerships between pets and people. Our thoughtful adoption process is designed to ensure that every animal is matched with the right family, as our dedicated staff understands each pet's unique personality and needs.

Join Our Mission

Whether you are looking to adopt a new companion, volunteer your time, or support us through our many community events, there are so many ways to get involved. We invite you to browse our available cats and dogs online or visit us during our open hours to meet your new best friend in person.
