Goochland Animal Protection
Our Mission
At the Goochland Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, we are dedicated to providing compassionate care for stray animals and facilitating happy, lifelong reunions and adoptions. We strive to be a professional resource that ensures the safety and welfare of both our community's domestic animals and its residents.
Our History
Our state-of-the-art 13,941 square-foot facility opened on June 15, 2020. This modern center serves as a proud example of successful collaboration between county funding and the generous contributions of the community through Goochland Pet Lovers.
How We Care
Our department operates both enforcement and sheltering branches to manage animal welfare effectively. Inside our facility, we feature a municipal shelter, an adoption center, and an in-house spay/neuter clinic to ensure every animal receives comprehensive care, including medical exams and vaccinations. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work daily to decrease kennel stress and provide socialization, ensuring our animals are well-prepared for their next chapter.
Your Adoption Journey
When an animal leaves our center to start a new life in a forever home, we feel great joy for them and their new family. We take pride in supporting our adopters by providing helpful resources and matching you with a pet that fits your lifestyle. Our team is committed to assisting you throughout the process so you feel confident and ready to welcome your new companion.
