Welcome to Angels of Assisi, where we are redefining the traditional role of an animal shelter. Our mission is to create a world where every pet in our community receives the care they need and the loving home they deserve. As an independent, nonprofit animal welfare organization, we proudly serve Southwest Virginia and West Virginia with various resources, programs, and services aimed at benefiting both pets and their human companions. At Angels of Assisi, we offer a unique blend of services beyond pet adoption. Our facilities include a Community Pet Clinic, a dedicated Adoption Center, and Harmony Farm Sanctuary, which ensures the protection and lifelong care for farm animals. Our Rural Veterinary Care, Cruelty Investigations, Disaster Response, and Safety Net Program provide critical support to animals in need and those who face challenging circumstances, including domestic violence or emergencies. Our commitment to animal welfare extends to our Harmony Farm Sanctuary, established in 2003 by our Executive Director, Lisa O'Neill. This 90-acre sanctuary is home to over 200 farm animals, providing them with necessary care, compassion, and a safe haven from cruelty. We invite you to join us as a monthly donor to ensure these animals receive the food, medicines, and love they deserve. Our dedicated team, including veterinarians and caring staff, works tirelessly to keep pets happy and healthy while fostering a warm and supportive environment for our community. We are constantly seeking passionate individuals to join our mission, with opportunities in both our wellness clinic and surgical areas. We prioritize a family-oriented work culture where mentorship and support are paramount.
