Welcome to the Franklin County Humane Society (FCHS) and the Planned Pethood Clinic & Adoption Center, located in the heart of Rocky Mount, Virginia. Since our inception in 1977, our dedicated mission has been to prevent cruelty to animals and provide a loving second chance to those in need.
Every year, we care for over 2,000 animals, maintaining a commitment to achieving a high Live Release Rate. As of January 2023, we have provided care to more than 25,616 animals. Our approach emphasizes the values of rescue, adoption, and community involvement, striving to create a world where every pet gets the opportunity for a safe and loving home.
Our Planned Pethood Clinic, established in 2000, focuses on reducing pet overpopulation through affordable spay and neuter services. We believe that by controlling the pet population, we can prevent the needless euthanasia of healthy animals. Thanks to generous donations, our clinic has performed an impressive 73,935 surgeries to date. We invite you to support our mission through our "Spay it Forward" initiative.
The Adoption Center, which opened in 2009, serves as a warm and welcoming haven for homeless pets. Our carefully designed facility, complete with spacious Doggie Dens, outdoor kennels, and a special Puppy Play Yard, ensures that dogs and cats can thrive while awaiting their forever homes. We encourage all visitors to experience the joy of connecting with our animals—whether or not you're ready to adopt, our furry friends greatly appreciate extra walks and loving attention.
In addition to our adoption efforts, our Purrfect Treasures store offers a unique shopping experience with all proceeds supporting the care of our animals. Located next to our Adoption Center, the store features beautifully crafted home décor items and a thriftique selection that reflects our community spirit.
We are a nonprofit organization funded entirely by the kindness of animal lovers like you; we do not receive any government funding. Your support enables us to continue our vital work in animal welfare through education, community outreach, and ongoing care for our beloved pets.
We invite you to explore our services, adopt a companion, or volunteer your time to make a difference. Join us in transforming lives, one paw at a time!
