Staunton Augusta Waynesboro Animal Services Center
Our Mission
The Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter is dedicated to improving the lives of people and pets in our community by providing a safe, compassionate, and open-admission environment for animals in need. We are a resource for our community, striving to find loving forever homes for every animal that walks through our doors.
Our History and Purpose
Since beginning operations in September 2011, we have proudly served the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro, as well as Augusta County. As the local municipal animal shelter, we act as a vital community hub, taking in stray, abandoned, and owner-surrendered pets while working hard to lower euthanasia rates and expand our reach.
How We Care for Our Animals
Our facility in Verona acts as the primary hub for our care efforts, where our team works daily to nurture and socialize our residents. We also rely on our dedicated network of foster families to provide a peaceful, loving home environment for animals needing extra space or recovery time. Together, these efforts ensure every pet receives the attention and care they deserve while waiting for their next chapter.
Finding Your Perfect Match
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to making the best match for both the animal and your lifestyle. Our team takes pride in understanding each pet's unique personality and background, guiding you through an intentional process to ensure a happy, lasting transition. We aren't just placing a pet; we are helping you find your new best friend.
