Hope for Life Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, injured, abused, and neglected animals. We strive to provide a safe, loving environment where every animal receives the individualized care they need to reach their healthiest potential.
Our Story
Founded in 2002, our organization began with a heartfelt vision to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable animals. What started as a small, humble effort has grown into a vital resource for our community, focused on providing a second chance to those who need it most.
Our Approach
As a no-kill 501(c)3 rescue, we operate a physical facility in Virginia Beach that provides a unique blend of shelter-based care and support from dedicated foster homes. Because we are not a traditional shelter, we have the flexibility to focus our resources on animals with serious medical needs, ensuring they receive the specialized care they deserve while they wait for their forever families.

10/14 - 💗 HEY EVERYONE — PEARL IS STILL WAITING! 💗 Our sweet Pearl is still looking for her forever home, and we really want to remind everyone that this senior girl doesn’t ask for much. 🥹 Pearl is an 8-year-old Great Dane mix whose favorite color is obviously PINK. 🎀💗 She’s at the stage of life where she’s perfectly happy with the simple things: a nice walk, a comfortable place to nap, and someone to love her. Pearl walks very well on a leash and would love a fenced backyard where she can safely enjoy some fresh air. Then? Back inside for another nap. 😂 That’s pretty much Pearl’s perfect day! Because Pearl can be reactive toward other animals, she needs to be the only pet in the home, and she would do best in a home without young children. At 8 years old, Pearl deserves to spend her golden years somewhere peaceful and comfortable — not waiting for a family to notice her. She doesn’t need a busy life. 10/13 - 💕🐱 LOTTI 🐱💕 Our sweet girl Lotti is still looking for a foster or forever home! 🏡❤️ Lotti is almost 2 years old and has spent far too much of her young life with us. 10/13 - 💕🐱 POLY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME! 🐱💕 Meet Poly! This sweet senior girl is about 8½ years old and has SO much love to give! ❤️ Poly recently had a dental and had multiple teeth extracted. 10/12 - ❤️ SHORT-TERM FOSTER SLEEPOVER NEEDED FOR MAMA SACHI ❤️ Mama Sachi Sinclair arrived at Hope for Life today with her six puppies after coming from a heartbreaking situation of severe neglect. Sachi and her babies were covered in fleas, causing painful skin irritation from constant scratching. But today, everything changed. They are safe now. Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, all six puppies left for their two-week quarantine sleepovers. Tonight, they are safe, warm, and hopefully curled up in someone’s loving arms. And then there is Mama Sachi. ❤️ This sweet girl raised six puppies in incredibly difficult conditions. Despite everything she has been through, she hasn’t forgotten how to trust people. She was incredibly sweet and affectionate with our staff today. Tonight may be her first night alone without her babies—and she will spend it at the shelter. Sachi is in quarantine through October 17, but after that, we urgently need a short-term foster sleepover for her. Even a few nights away from the shelter would mean so much. 🏡 Food and necessary supplies will be provided. ❤️ A short-term commitment is absolutely welcome. She spent so long taking care of her six babies. Now it’s Mama Sachi’s turn to be taken care of. If you can give this sweet mama a safe, quiet place to rest—even temporarily—please reach out to us. 🐾 An approved Sleepover or Foster Application is required. #adoptdontshop #adoptme #rescuedog #dog #foster

10/12 - 🐱💙 BEAMER NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME! 💙🐱 Hi, I’m Beamer! I’m a senior guy (8.5) who hasn’t quite decided if humans are okay yet. You’re kinda big and scary! 😹 You can usually find me hiding on a shelf, keeping my distance. Other cats? No problem! Humans? I’m still figuring you out. 😉 Head scratches are okay, and snacks might just be the way to my heart! ❤️ 🏡 I’m looking for a quiet, comfy space of my own where I can relax and feel safe while figuring out this whole human thing at my own pace. 😋 Please excuse our mess! Forget Wiener Dogs… these girls are HOT DOGS! 🌭And they may be low riders, but there is NOTHING low-energy about them! These Dachshund mixes are happy, playful, silly, a little stubborn, and always ready for fun. They play, play, play—and just when you think they’re finally done… they’re ready for another round! Hattie and Harper have an absolute blast together, but we don’t believe they’re truly bonded.
