Auburn Valley Humane Society enriches the lives of companion animals and people through dedicated animal sheltering, specialized programs, and active community engagement. We are committed to being a model of excellence in the advancement of animal welfare, changing lives four paws at a time.
Born from a community conversation in 2010, our organization was established to address the critical need for a local, independent animal shelter in Auburn. With the support of our neighbors and the City of Auburn, we opened our doors in 2013 to provide a safe haven for our area’s lost, stray, and abandoned pets.
AVHS is much more than just a shelter; we function as a hub for medical care, pet advocacy, and community resources. From our comprehensive adoption services to our Northwest Spay & Neuter Center and specialized programs like the Shelter Buddies Reading Program, we focus on the holistic needs of animals and the people who love them. We believe in providing compassionate, life-affirming care while collaborating with regional partners to ensure every pet finds the support they deserve.
Finding a loving home for every healthy, adoptable pet is at the heart of what we do. Our team prioritizes meaningful connections, gathering behavioral insights and medical history to ensure that every adoption is a perfect, lasting partnership. We are here to support you throughout your journey, helping you and your new companion transition smoothly into your life together.
Whether you are looking to welcome a new dog, cat, or critter into your home, we invite you to browse our current adoptable pets online. Your support through adoption, volunteering, or donating makes our work possible. Visit our shelter in Auburn to meet your new best friend today!
